This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Act as a senior subject matter expert in control valves, automated valve assemblies, actuators, positioners, instrumentation, diagnostics, repair, calibration, and testing.
• Create and deliver training sessions in classrooms, workshops, and field environments for valve technicians, sales staff, and associates.
• Guide technicians and set up competency standards, training programs, qualification criteria, and ongoing training obligations.
• Provide customer-facing technical instruction on control valve operation, maintenance, diagnostics, reliability, and valve automation.
• Assist in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, commissioning, startup, and field service for intricate or critical valve applications.
• Aid in planning, layout, equipment selection, workflow design, safety measures, and the startup of valve automation and service facilities in locations including Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Denver.
• Standardize assembly, calibration, testing, documentation, quality control, and service practices across all company locations.
• Offer technical support for valve automation operations in Midland, Borger, and other current or future service sites.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, engineering, and leadership on technical specifications, service capabilities, staffing needs, equipment, and expansion priorities.
• Review customer specifications, valve data, service histories, diagnostic results, and application conditions to propose solutions.
• Develop work instructions, testing procedures, inspection criteria, training resources, troubleshooting manuals, and service documents.
• Assist in the evaluation, onboarding, and technical assessment of valve technicians and service personnel.
• Represent the company during customer visits, technical presentations, training sessions, plant outages, and field-service operations.
• Provide practical field support as required by business needs.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing service quality, efficiency, safety, reliability, and customer support.
• Undertake other responsibilities and support strategic valve service initiatives as assigned.
• High school diploma or GED is mandatory; a technical degree, engineering degree, or advanced industry training is preferred.
• Significant progressive experience with control valves, valve automation, valve repair, field service, diagnostics, commissioning, and industrial process applications is required.
• Proven expertise in severe-service and general-service control valves, actuators, digital and pneumatic positioners, accessories, and associated instrumentation.
• Experience in leading field-service activities, technical teams, training programs, or multi-location technical initiatives is highly preferred.
• Capability to diagnose complex valve and automation issues and effectively communicate findings to technicians, customers, sales teams, and leadership.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, valve data sheets, customer specifications, diagnostic reports, test documentation, and manufacturer instructions.
• Familiarity with relevant control valve, pressure testing, safety, and quality standards is essential.
• Strong skills in presentation, coaching, mentoring, documentation, and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work independently in a remote capacity while managing priorities across multiple facilities and business teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning company-specific business, service, and documentation systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet customer-site access requirements are mandatory.
• Willingness to travel frequently overnight, typically more than 50% of the time.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Competence in reading technical information, inspecting equipment, and using a keyboard.
• Ability to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or work in confined industrial spaces.
• Capability to occasionally lift, push, or carry items up to 50 pounds, employing assistance or lifting equipment as necessary.
