This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Lead a team of Underwriters to ensure effective risk selection in Commercial Lines while maintaining profitability.
β’ Articulate the underwriting vision and strategic objectives.
β’ Oversee team operations and provide mentorship to junior managers and team members.
β’ Share best practices in risk assessment and align the underwriting strategy with portfolio growth ambitions.
β’ Evaluate, analyze, and present agency performance metrics.
β’ Drive profitability and manage risks through the underwriting team to meet business plan profit targets.
β’ Propose and implement initiatives for business growth.
β’ Allocate resources effectively and execute changes to enhance strategy implementation.
β’ Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and provide tailored, high-quality service.
β’ Oversee Commercial Lines projects, product assessments and launches, agency and Underwriter training, and resolution of escalated issues.
β’ Disseminate underwriting technical knowledge to team members, agents, and regulatory bodies.
β’ Mentor and coach direct reports, offer constructive feedback, and assist in employee development.
β’ Anticipate resource requirements and expenses, manage allocated budgets, and track costs.
β’ Foster a culture of accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity, and enjoyment.
β’ Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data within the agency management system.
β’ Perform additional duties as assigned.
β’ Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
β’ A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience.
β’ In-depth experience in property and casualty insurance underwriting.
β’ CPCU license required.
β’ Certificate of General Insurance (INS).
β’ Associate in Insurance Production (AIP).
β’ Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines products, underwriting processes and procedures, relevant laws and regulations, as well as strategic planning concepts and terminology.
β’ Self-driven with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
β’ Capacity to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
β’ Occasional travel (approximately 15%β20% per year).
