This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee a distributed team comprising software engineers, QA specialists, and SDETs within the Payments sector.
• Recruit, onboard, and supervise software engineers, QA professionals, and SDETs.
• Establish performance expectations while providing feedback, coaching, and mentorship.
• Engage in roadmap planning and execution alongside engineering and product leadership.
• Organize, coordinate, and deliver multiple simultaneous workstreams.
• Track progress against roadmap commitments and recognize risks, dependencies, and resource limitations.
• Offer leadership regarding testing strategies, quality assurance, and automated testing practices.
• Manage escalations and unanticipated work, including production defects and product requests.
• Coordinate regular team and workstream meetings, conveying decisions, responsibilities, dependencies, and follow-up actions.
• Eliminate obstacles and promote accountability and autonomy to ensure rapid and reliable delivery.
• Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, supportive, and high-performance team culture.
• Collaborate with product management, architects, and engineers to design, develop, and maintain payment products.
• Advocate for software quality, security, testing, operational reliability, and AI-assisted development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Over 7 years of experience in developing or supporting highly distributed applications.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft .NET/C# or Java systems.
• Proficient in connecting systems to SQL Server, MongoDB, NoSQL databases, and cloud systems.
• At least 3 years of experience in people management within the software engineering domain.
• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience delivering successful releases.
• More than 3 years of experience in building or supporting software in the U.S. payments industry and payment processing.
• Familiarity with the U.S. payments ecosystem, including payment processors, card networks, ACH payments, and relevant security and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
• Experience in managing contractors and vendors.
• Proven experience in implementing and utilizing AI tools to enhance team productivity and delivery.
• Proficient with Microsoft .NET/C#, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, Azure, RESTful APIs, RabbitMQ, MSMQ, and NServiceBus.
