Engineering Manager, Care Delivery

• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team responsible for delivering essential clinical and operational systems.

• Steer architectural decisions for backend services, workflows, integrations, and internal tools.

• Collaborate with senior engineers to guarantee systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable.

• Maintain technical expertise in Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React/Next.js, and AWS-based infrastructure.

• Ensure robust CI/CD pipelines and secure deployment practices within a regulated healthcare environment.

• Advocate for small-batch continuous delivery, feature flags, and rapid feedback cycles.

• Leverage DORA metrics and other delivery signals to enhance throughput and stability.

• Identify technical risks at an early stage and lead mitigation efforts.

• Oversee systems related to clinical charting, scheduling, task management, care coordination, and workflow automation.

• Ensure patient data is managed securely in compliance with HIPAA and broader healthcare regulatory standards.

• Support thoughtful automation and AI integration while ensuring human oversight and patient safety.

• Collaborate with product, clinical, and operations leaders on roadmaps and engineering strategies.

• Balance the need for rapid delivery with operational reliability and the long-term health of the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, along with a background as a senior or staff-level engineer.

• Proven success in leading the delivery of complex backend or workflow-intensive systems in production within fast-paced or high-growth environments.

• Experience in implementing delivery fundamentals: small-batch delivery, feature flags, testing, operational excellence, and coaching teams to adopt these practices.

• Hands-on expertise in agentic, AI-native development, such as Claude Code; ability to practice and coach this within a team.

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in healthcare, clinical systems, workflow tools, AI-enabled products, or other regulated sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
