This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of software engineers at various levels.
• Take ownership of the technical roadmap for clinical content management systems.
• Collaborate with product management, clinical content authors, medical and clinical affairs, and reporting stakeholders to outline requirements and set priorities.
• Spearhead the design and implementation of tools for clinical content, knowledge, templates, and reporting components.
• Supervise systems that handle clinical content authoring, versioning, review and approval workflows, publishing, and quality metrics.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and incident response protocols.
• Manage team capacity, including hiring, performance evaluations, career development, and succession planning.
• Influence architectural choices for scalable storage, delivery, and governance of clinical content.
• Advocate for the automation of content assembly, template management, and report generation processes.
• Facilitate the development of test content and report templates through resource allocation and technical support.
• Convey technical strategies, progress, and risks to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Define and refine governance regarding the application of AI and LLM tools in clinical content management workflows.
• Eliminate obstacles, manage inter-team dependencies, and guarantee timely project delivery.
• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for clinical content management and diagnostic report generation.
• Bachelor's degree.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership position (team lead, tech lead, or management role).
• Minimum of 2 years managing software engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Over 5 years of experience and a solid technical foundation in Python, relational databases, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and contemporary web development frameworks.
• Proven experience of 5 or more years in delivering complex software systems utilizing RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
• At least 2 years' experience managing teams that work with front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in setting priorities and driving execution across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Experience in building and cultivating engineering teams across various experience levels.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and drive execution across simultaneous workstreams.
• Proven track record of developing engineering teams across various levels of experience.
• Familiarity with the clinical content management field and the diagnostic reporting landscape.
• Experience in translating clinical content and reporting requirements into information solutions and engineering strategies.
• Background in managing teams within regulated or clinical settings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences, including senior leadership.
• Familiarity with tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar LLM technologies.
• Preferred: Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, along with 3 or more years of relevant professional software engineering experience.
• Preferred: Over 5 years of experience with content management systems, structured content platforms, or document/template management systems.
• Preferred: 5 or more years of experience with content authoring workflows, versioning and approval governance, structured document formats (e.g., XML, DITA), and publishing pipelines.
• Preferred: 5 or more years of experience delivering software in regulated or clinical/healthcare settings.
