This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Lead, mentor, and enhance the capabilities of a team of SMB Sales Engineers.
• Set performance goals, development strategies, coaching sessions, evaluations, and technical assessments.
• Oversee workload management, sales-support coverage, and priorities among Field Sales, Call Center, and Business Customer Care.
• Recruit and onboard new Sales Engineering associates.
• Engage in customer opportunities, conduct technical presentations, and handle escalated sales-support requests.
• Supervise technical sales support, customer discovery processes, solution design, technical consultations, and product demonstrations.
• Lead discovery calls and presentations directed at business owners and operators.
• Assist with complex or escalated SMB opportunities.
• Develop and provide technical training and resources for sales enablement.
• Create repeatable solutions tailored for common SMB customer segments.
• Support product launches and prepare customer-facing teams to effectively present new services.
• Create feedback mechanisms among Sales, Customer Care, Sales Engineering, Product, and Operations.
• Offer technical leadership across the SMB product portfolio.
• Identify gaps in products, processes, and support that impact the SMB customer experience.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Engineering, Customer Care, and Project Management to enhance solution delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Set and monitor performance metrics for Sales Engineering engagement, response times, sales influence, service attachment, associate readiness, and customer outcomes.
• Track workload, engagement volume, and support trends within the three-member Sales Engineering team.
• Utilize sales and operational data to pinpoint opportunities for product adoption, revenue growth, and efficiency improvements.
• Develop standardized technical support workflows.
• Ensure thorough documentation of customer interactions, solution proposals, and team activities.
• Report on team performance, channel requirements, product feedback, and growth prospects to leadership.
• Assist in annual planning, budgeting, goal setting, and resource distribution for the SMB Sales Engineering team.
• A minimum of five years of experience in telecommunications, broadband, networking, information technology, technical sales, or Sales Engineering.
• At least two years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, team lead, or associate development role.
• Proven experience in supporting small to medium-sized businesses or high-volume sales channels.
• Strong knowledge of DOCSIS, fiber, PON, FTTx, and 5G/LTE connectivity.
• Proficient understanding of LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, cybersecurity, and cellular failover.
• Familiarity with managed routers, managed firewalls, switching, wireless networking, endpoint security, hosted voice, unified communications, SIP, IPTV, and business continuity solutions.
• Capability to lead technical discovery, solution design, product demonstrations, and customer presentations.
• Experience in developing and delivering technical training and sales enablement materials.
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
• Strong coaching, communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Capacity to lead across organizational boundaries and influence teams without direct authority.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Meraki certifications, MEF, or comparable credentials are preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Experience with CRM, case management, reporting, and sales support platforms is preferred.
• Willingness to travel as required for team meetings, training sessions, customer engagements, and company events.
