This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Collaborate with technical product management and key business stakeholders to guide technology direction, facilitate critical technical decisions, and deliver products.
• Engage with engineering teams and enterprise architecture; work together on integration initiatives, best practices, and the adoption of new technologies.
• Commit to roadmaps that outline capabilities and timelines, while assessing and integrating new products and technologies.
• Ensure technology alignment with business strategy and proactively lead technical direction across the organization.
• Embrace Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and establish a regular release rhythm.
• Oversee multiple teams of Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and DevOps professionals, including both full-time and contract resources.
• Directly manage five or more full-time employees or contractors.
• Conduct interviews, hire, train, assign tasks, oversee, evaluate, reward, and discipline employees; address concerns and resolve issues.
• Lead and mentor engineering team members.
• Provide thought leadership focused on innovation and share insights on product development, engineering, and development processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field AND three (3) years of demonstrated experience in software engineering leadership roles, with a strong execution track record in the complete lifecycle of product development, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence technical decisions, manage conflicts, negotiate, and present effectively.

• Experience in software development and automation, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevOps practices, build and test automation, orchestration/fulfillment, assurance, and performance.
• Relevant experience in large-scale application architecture/design, middleware architecture, integration architecture, application deployment methods, automation, testing, compliance, and auditing.
• Proficiency in service-oriented and microservice architectures for highly available cloud-hosted applications and services on AWS.
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.
• Ability and eagerness to excel in a proactive, high-pressure environment.
• Competence to write clear technical specifications along with strong estimating and planning skills.
• Experience with object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Solid understanding of source control and its effective usage.
• Experience collaborating with offshore and distributed teams.
• Ability to pass a required background check.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) and web applications.
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
