Manager – Oncology Discovery Contracting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of procurement-related agreements within a designated portfolio.

• Aid research teams in comprehending the scope of scientific engagement and in structuring compliant contracts.

• Handle scientific contracting engagements in areas such as early phase biology, chemistry, and scientific technology.

• Collaborate with teams from Project Management, Scientific, Legal, and Business Operations.

• Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts in alignment with policies and risk mitigation strategies.

• Manage multiple contract assignments and adjust priorities across scientific teams as directed.

• Provide guidance on contracting and escalate complex compliance or contractual matters.

• Communicate with Project Management teams regarding forthcoming third-party contracting requirements, scope, deliverables, timelines, and prioritization.

• Engage with third-party suppliers to identify and mitigate routine risks.

• Coordinate input from Legal and subject-matter experts.

• Assist with the procure-to-pay process, including handling purchase requisitions and invoice reconciliation.

• Utilize Lilly’s contract lifecycle management system for contract intake, drafting, tracking, and reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in biology or a related scientific field is preferred.

• Scientific literacy and/or a background in a relevant biological discipline.

• Capability to engage credibly with research scientists in exploratory research, translational science, and large molecule biology.

• A minimum of 3 years of contract management experience, including procurement-facing contracting in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

• Experience with project management, finance, procurement, and contract lifecycle management software is preferred.

• Familiarity with software licensing agreements, including SaaS and data platform agreements, is preferred.

• Proficiency with AI tools is preferred.

• Strong skills in contract drafting, review, and analysis.

• Working knowledge of intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, confidentiality, and payment terms.

• Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent assignments while adhering to strict deadlines.

• Commitment to becoming proficient with Lilly’s contract lifecycle management system and other designated business tools.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking capabilities.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
