This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +3 more states.
• Take ownership of the hindsight calendar and its cadence, facilitating recurring reviews after the season, promotions, and launches across various merchandise categories.
• Create uniform analytical templates that encompass sell-through rates, margin realization, forecast accuracy, markdown effectiveness, and inventory productivity.
• Ensure consistent definitions for metrics and maintain reliable sources of data.
• Compile and present findings to Merchants, Planning, and senior leadership, offering clear and prioritized recommendations.
• Evaluate SKU- and category-level assortment performance to pinpoint top performers, underachievers, and structural trends.
• Assess the incrementality and margin impact of promotional events and pricing strategies, differentiating between lift from pull-forward and cannibalization effects.
• Review the performance of new product introductions against pre-launch forecasts and establish go/no-go criteria.
• Analyze demand and margin forecast accuracy and bias by category, item, and time horizon.
• Collaborate with Demand Planning on root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Document hindsight insights and translate them into modifications in assortment, pricing, or planning assumptions.
• Act as an analytical partner to merchant teams.
• Continuously enhance hindsight methodologies as data, tools, and business inquiries evolve.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a related field with a focus on analytics.
• Over 6 years of experience in financial analysis, merchandise finance, retail analytics, FP&A, banking, or a similar analytical role.
• Proficient in Excel with advanced financial modeling capabilities.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Proven ability to convey complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to present findings effectively to cross-functional leadership.
• Keen attention to detail, demonstrating the ability to maintain consistent definitions and reproducible analyses.
• High standards for accuracy and analytical integrity, with the capability to work efficiently without compromising quality.
• Demonstrated ability to remain composed in a fast-paced team environment while handling multiple concurrent projects.
• Previous experience in designing or significantly enhancing post-season or hindsight processes.
• Proficient in SQL or a similar data query language.
• Experience with enterprise planning tools such as Oracle, Hyperion, or equivalent systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise resource planning software like SAP.
