Manager, Medical Detention Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee operations and provide program management support for various detention healthcare programs across the nation.

• Ensure facility healthcare operations comply with contract stipulations, federal laws, and detention healthcare standards.

• Act as the main corporate contact for assigned facilities concerning medical operations, program performance, and operational challenges.

• Work collaboratively with Health Services Administrators, Clinical Directors, and Medical Directors at facilities.

• Enforce and consistently implement corporate healthcare policies, procedures, and operational strategies.

• Track facility performance metrics and operational indicators to uncover trends, risks, and areas for enhancement.

• Assist in healthcare startups, transitions of contracts, facility expansions, and initiatives for operational enhancement.

• Oversee corrective action plans stemming from government inspections, audits, accreditation evaluations, and compliance reviews.

• Coordinate responses to government findings and support ongoing compliance efforts.

• Prepare for audits, inspections, accreditation surveys, and evaluations by customers.

• Supervise clinical documentation, staffing requirements, healthcare protocols, and quality assurance programs.

• Analyze quality indicators, utilization trends, operational data, patient safety metrics, and healthcare outcomes.

• Lead initiatives aimed at improving performance to enhance healthcare delivery, compliance, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics for corporate and governmental stakeholders.

• Engage in root cause analyses, investigations, and risk mitigation efforts.

• Monitor staffing levels and work with recruitment teams to fulfill staffing needs.

• Aid in onboarding, orientation, deployment, workforce planning, retention, and optimizing staffing.

• Provide support during staffing shortages, surges, or emergency situations.

• Cultivate relationships with government officials, facility leadership, corporate stakeholders, and external partners.

• Attend customer meetings, operational reviews, and strategic planning discussions.

• Prepare executive briefings, reports, operational summaries, and presentations.

• Assist with contract deliverables, performance evaluations, and reporting requirements for customers.

• Contribute to operational budgets, labor utilization, staffing costs, financial forecasting, and resource planning.

• Identify operational efficiencies while ensuring compliance and maintaining quality standards.

• Support contract growth, proposal initiatives, and business development efforts.

• Safeguard the confidentiality of healthcare information, operational data, and sensitive government details.

• Provide after-hours support during emergencies, critical incidents, or significant healthcare events.

• Travel extensively for facility oversight, inspections, customer meetings, and operational initiatives.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, management, correctional healthcare, detention healthcare, or healthcare program leadership.

• At least three (3) years of experience managing multi-site healthcare operations, government healthcare contracts, or detention healthcare programs.

• Proven experience overseeing operational performance, staffing, compliance, quality improvement, and contract execution.

• Familiarity with federal government agencies, healthcare contractors, correctional systems, or detention environments.

• Demonstrated experience managing healthcare programs with multiple stakeholders and regulatory requirements.

• Proficient in healthcare reporting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Capable of obtaining and maintaining all necessary government clearances, facility credentials, and contractual obligations.

• Must provide proof of citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.

• Consent to fingerprinting and background checks is required.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

• Extensive knowledge of detention healthcare operations, correctional healthcare systems, and healthcare program management.

• Strong understanding of National Detention Standards (NDS), Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS), and federal detention healthcare regulations.

• Knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and quality improvement methodologies.

• Strong leadership and team-building abilities with the capacity to influence and support multidisciplinary teams.

• Demonstrated program management, organizational, and operational planning skills.

• Ability to evaluate healthcare operations, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective measures.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

• Ability to interpret operational, clinical, and financial performance data.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong customer service and government relations abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and reporting platforms.

• Capable of managing multiple priorities across geographically dispersed locations.

• Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills in complex operational environments.

• Preferred: Registered Nurse (RN), Physician Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or other healthcare licensure.

• Preferred: Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA), Nursing, or a related field.

• Preferred: PMP, CPHQ, FACHE, or equivalent certification.

• Preferred experience in supporting government agencies through federal healthcare programs.

• Preferred experience managing detention healthcare or correctional healthcare contracts.

• Preferred experience with ACA, NCCHC, Joint Commission, or other healthcare accreditation standards.

• Preferred experience leading multi-site operational improvement initiatives and complex healthcare programs.

• Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.

• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• May encounter extreme weather, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise during operational visits.
