This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the complete lease accounting operations at EVgo.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes for the entire lease portfolio.
• Evaluate and record new leases, amendments, renewals, extensions, and terminations in CoStar in accordance with ASC 842.
• Review and authorize lease amortization schedules, right-of-use asset and liability balances, as well as period-end GL reconciliations.
• Examine and approve outgoing rent and site host submeter payments.
• Identify contract variations and embedded lease clauses, documenting accounting conclusions in technical memoranda.
• Evaluate lease portfolios for impairment triggers and conduct or coordinate impairment analyses.
• Assess and account for asset retirement obligations concerning site restoration requirements.
• Provide balance sheet movements and analyses to FP&A for cash flow reporting and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
• Develop and uphold lease accounting policies.
• Maintain process documentation and SOX 404 controls while addressing control deficiencies.
• Collaborate on quarterly and annual lease footnote disclosures for Form 10-Q and 10-K submissions.
• Assist with internal and external audit inquiries.
• Partner with Lease Administration to keep lease projects updated in CoStar.
• Identify significant leases and substantial changes that necessitate accounting review and timely setup.
• Work with FP&A on monthly lease expense analysis and budget variances.
• Support the implementation and enhancement of financial systems, including CoStar testing and ERP integrations.
• Enhance efficiency through automation and improved system utilization.
• Establish a documented routine for recurring monthly closing activities.
• Supervise and mentor accountants involved in the lease accounting operations.
• Conduct performance evaluations, offer feedback, onboard new team members, and facilitate employee development.
• Execute additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Generally, 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on lease accounting, or equivalent professional experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
• A CPA license or active candidacy is highly desirable.
• Experience in a public company setting with direct involvement in SEC reporting and external audit support for lease disclosures.
• Previous experience in supervising or developing accounting personnel.
• Familiarity with lease accounting process automation and financial system integration initiatives.
• Equivalent education or training in accounting, finance, or a related area may be accepted instead of a formal degree.
• Expert knowledge of ASC 842, including lease classification, initial and subsequent measurement, modification accounting, and impairment evaluation.
• Experience managing a lease portfolio comprehensively using a lease accounting system; CoStar is preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX 404 internal control requirements relevant to lease accounting.
• Proficiency in ERP systems; NetSuite is preferred.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Proven ability to prepare and review technical accounting memoranda that document lease-related positions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Lease Administration, FP&A, SEC Reporting, and external auditors.
