This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
β’ Provides leadership and accountability for the development and execution of organization-wide translation and interpretation systems.
β’ Ensures that services adhere to state and federal regulations, accreditation and compliance standards, as well as organizational policies.
β’ Engages in strategic planning for language services across the organization.
β’ Directs quality monitoring and enhancement initiatives for translation and interpretation services.
β’ Fosters relationships with management, employees, and medical staff concerning services for LEP and deaf/hard of hearing populations.
β’ Develops initiatives to enhance, promote, and publicize Translation and Interpretation Services.
β’ Collaborates with the director to create capital and operating budgets.
β’ Oversees budgets, assesses variances, and takes necessary actions.
β’ Manages staff, including training, development, evaluations, and personnel actions.
β’ Provides guidance and support to subordinate employees.
β’ Participates in safety initiatives and fulfills safety-related competencies.
β’ Coaches staff on performance, conducts performance reviews, and promotes staff morale.
β’ Leadership experience is essential.
β’ Typically requires 5 years of experience in a medical setting performing verbal and written medical interpretation and translation, leading and prioritizing staff work, and serving as a resource for staff on complex cases.
β’ Must include 1 year of supervisory experience in a medical environment.
β’ Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Care Administration OR a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing.
β’ Professional proficiency in bilingual medical terminology, encompassing anatomy and physiology, diagnostic processes, treatment, prevention, and health education models.
β’ Familiarity with the ethics of medical interpreting as outlined by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC).
β’ Ability to supervise interpreters tasked with delivering challenging messages, including those related to death and dying.
β’ Exceptional human relations and communication abilities.
β’ Basic computer proficiency.
β’ Capacity to utilize video interpreting techniques.
β’ Must wear protective clothing when necessary.
β’ Position requires travel and may involve exposure to road and weather hazards.
