Manager, Laboratory Systems – Data

📋 Description

• Define and uphold the product vision, multi-year roadmap, governance model, and lifecycle strategy for laboratory systems and scientific data platforms.

• Align technology priorities and investment strategies with R&D business objectives and laboratory requirements.

• Identify opportunities for harmonization, simplification, automation, application rationalization, and AI-enabled capabilities.

• Act as Business Owner or provide governance and direction for designated laboratory applications, including ELN/LIMS, Compliance Builder, and related technologies.

• Manage demand intake and prioritization; convert user needs into business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs.

• Lead release planning, deployment readiness, demonstrations, adoption planning, training coordination, hypercare, and value realization.

• Oversee application sustainment and lifecycle processes, including incident escalation, change control, performance monitoring, feedback cycles, periodic reviews, and lifecycle decisions.

• Develop a comprehensive scientific data storage strategy that encompasses requirements, governance, application selection, storage, access, retention, archival, continuity, and lifecycle management across cloud and on-premises environments.

• Establish governance for laboratory master data, including ownership, data quality, standards, change processes, and periodic reviews.

• Collaborate with IT, solution architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, validation, data integrity, Quality, Supply Chain, and external vendors to ensure coordinated delivery.

• Manage budgets, forecasts, timelines, dependencies, risks, vendor commitments, and investment recommendations.

• Coordinate efforts with software, data platform, cloud, infrastructure, and professional service providers; escalate performance or service issues as necessary.

• Monitor and communicate product, adoption, service, and value metrics, including relevant KPIs and OKRs.

• Facilitate requirements workshops, roadmap reviews, governance forums, and leadership updates.

• Drive business change management, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and adoption initiatives.

• Serve as the primary business escalation and coordination point for laboratory applications, scientific data storage, connectivity, workstation access, and related technology challenges.

• Mentor and train laboratory personnel, Business Owners, product team members, and contractors; may supervise limited direct reports and sponsor contract resources.

• Ensure compliance with GxP and non-GxP requirements, data integrity, validation, cybersecurity, Good Documentation Practices, and technology risk governance.

• Adhere to Company guidelines regarding Health, Safety, and Environmental practices and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with 7 to 9 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in a related field with 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a regulated industry, enterprise applications, digital products, laboratory systems, or scientific data platforms.

• Experience in leading or governing applications, product roadmaps, portfolios, demand, or cross-functional governance across multiple sites or business functions.

• Proven ability to translate business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, prioritized backlogs, and delivery plans.

• Experience in application development, deployment, adoption, sustainment, lifecycle management, or continuous improvement.

• Familiarity with regulated GxP and non-GxP environments, including expectations around data integrity, validation, cybersecurity, quality, and risk management.

• Experience collaborating with IT delivery teams, Quality partners, vendors, and senior business stakeholders.

• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, facilitation, and influencing skills.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities, make risk-based decisions, and drive alignment without direct authority.

• Preferred: Experience with ELN, LIMS, laboratory informatics, scientific data platforms, LabVantage, LabWare, BIOVIA, ComplianceBuilder, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with cloud and on-premises data storage, migration, retention, backup, disaster recovery, archival, and data lifecycle practices.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile product delivery, backlog management, release planning, Jira, and ServiceNow or comparable tools.

• Preferred: Experience in application portfolio management, vendor management, budget planning, and business-value measurement.

• Preferred: Experience in developing procedures, process maps, training materials, and organizational change or adoption plans.
