This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Support the establishment of lab standards across the organization to meet regulatory requirements.
• Promote excellence in lab collection, processing, safety, and optimization practices.
• Create standard operating procedures to ensure compliance in lab-related activities.
• Ensure compliance with CMS CLIA-waived regulations for point-of-care testing throughout the enterprise.
• Design training programs for both new and existing Oakies in lab practices.
• Establish systems for quality assurance in the laboratory.
• Oversee national and regional laboratory vendor relationships.
• Maintain an updated test compendium.
• Supervise laboratory operations across more than 200 Oak Street Health centers.
• Act as a business and strategic liaison for lab vendor partnerships.
• Enhance lab vendor service agreements for optimal performance.
• Develop organizational lab standards that comply with federal and state regulations.
• Negotiate pricing and service level agreements with vendors.
• Collaborate with EMR and product teams to manage lab compendiums.
• Monitor and trend lab performance metrics such as test volume, turnaround time, TNP, and TIQ.
• Ensure compliance with lab monitoring structures.
• Lead the integration of new point-of-care devices and lab specimens.
• Evaluate lab performance and create strategies for process improvement.
• Provide guidance to Practice Managers and center staff on lab resources and equipment.
• Track compliance with CLIA-waived requirements, including certificates, control logs, and documentation.
• Collaborate on lab-related center setups and state CLIA integration.
• Assist with lab incident reports and root cause analysis.
• Conduct onsite visits to centers.
• Develop organization-wide lab training initiatives.
• Foster cross-functional partnerships.
• Ensure strong accountability in metric performance for lab operations.
• Travel to Oak Street Health markets up to 10% of the time.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• MLS, MT, or MLT certification is preferred.
• Epic certification or experience is preferred.
• Proven ability to independently manage and lead complex, organization-wide projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
• Proficient in problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Experience in vendor management is preferred.
• Must possess a flexible and positive attitude.
• Strong motivation to transform the traditional primary care paradigm.
• High emotional intelligence is necessary.
• Ability to assess situations from various perspectives.
• Capability to effectively resolve issues.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
