This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a globally distributed Core Infrastructure team.
• Enhance team performance and establish definitive ownership across essential infrastructure domains.
• Take charge of the technical strategy and convert it into a cohesive roadmap encompassing compute, networking, storage, infrastructure control planes, reliability, and cloud efficiency.
• Optimize capacity management, failure isolation, observability, safe rollouts, incident learning, and sustainable on-call practices.
• Develop paved paths, automation, and self-service infrastructure for engineering teams.
• Utilize AI-enabled tools and workflows to enhance engineering execution, operational analysis, and minimize toil.
• Advocate for and instill Samsara’s cultural principles as the company expands globally.
• Recruit, cultivate, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team.
• Collaborate with engineering and security leaders throughout Samsara.
• Support the infrastructure behind a platform that processes over 25 trillion data points each year.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 8 years of pertinent software engineering experience.
• More than 2 years of direct management experience with software or infrastructure engineers.
• Proven experience in leading, developing, and enhancing the performance of an established engineering team.
• Strong technical foundation in production infrastructure, cloud platforms, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Demonstrated history of leading complex technical initiatives and converting strategy into measurable outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills and technical judgment.
• Capability to create alignment across teams.
• Experience managing infrastructure for a large-scale cloud or distributed platform.
• Familiarity with multi-region public cloud, container orchestration, and declarative infrastructure.
• Background in leading significant modernization, reliability, disaster recovery, or cloud efficiency initiatives.
• Experience managing globally distributed teams.
• Practical knowledge of using AI-enabled tools to boost engineering effectiveness.
• Ability to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company and in the designated work location.
