Manager I – Estimating – Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Lead the preconstruction and estimating initiatives for utility-scale gas power generation projects, guiding them from the initial development phase to the handoff for construction.

• Oversee estimating teams while reviewing project scopes and technical specifications.

• Coordinate bidding strategies to ensure estimates are precise, competitive, and meet client expectations.

• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to assess risks, pinpoint opportunities, and craft proposals.

• Manage the preparation of bids and negotiate contracts.

• Facilitate transitions from preconstruction to project execution by coordinating handoffs, vendor relations, and project setup activities.

• Promote continuous enhancement of estimating processes, systems, and best practices.

• Mentor team members and contribute to the growth of Blattner’s gas power generation sector.

• Formulate departmental strategy and vision, providing regular updates on relevant industry standards and practices.

• Assist in estimate planning, conduct pre-bid meetings, create schedules, prepare proposals, and review documents for Mega projects.

• Supervise and nurture subordinates through mentoring, structured training, and diverse work experiences.

• Ensure that project quality and safety standards, training, PPE, and JHA risks are identified and incorporated into estimates.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant preconstruction and/or construction experience, or a combination of technical training and related experience in estimating, project management, contract negotiations, and effective construction methods, with a focus on safety and quality.

• Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field.

• Proven experience in supporting Gas Powered Generation (GPG) projects from inception through construction.

• Comprehensive understanding of preconstruction, estimating, procurement, and project handoff processes.

• Experience in developing conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
