This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +11 more states.
• Assist Ryder's Government Relations initiatives, concentrating on state and local matters, project management, and the development of internal policies.
• Contribute to specific federal projects.
• Oversee internal government relations programs, policies, and initiatives by providing project management support.
• Create and uphold governing policies, internal controls, procedures, documentation, and systems.
• Track and evaluate federal, state, and local regulations and legislation pertinent to Ryder.
• Establish and monitor measurable advocacy outcomes aligned with business goals.
• Report on progress, risks, recommendations, and other relevant issues.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to formulate policy-related strategies and initiatives.
• Incorporate government relations strategies into business planning, project execution, community engagement, and external communication.
• Produce written analyses, talking points, advocacy materials, and communication content.
• Supervise contributors, content creators, contractors, and external vendors.
• Manage relationships with governments, policymakers, trade associations, customers, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Stay informed about Ryder's advocacy priorities and pertinent regulations and legislation.
• Achieve enterprise program outcomes, ensure stakeholder alignment, and execute strategic initiatives.
• Report directly to the Senior Director of Corporate Affairs.
• Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Policy/Public Administration, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in government relations and/or a related field is required.
• At least 3 years of experience navigating state/federal legislative, regulatory, and executive processes is required.
• A minimum of 3 years managing cross-functional projects or teams is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Ability to analyze and assess economic, political, and social trends along with legislative/regulatory impacts.
• Knowledge or familiarity with transportation, supply chain, and logistics operations.
• Proficient understanding of English grammar and punctuation.
• Competent in Microsoft 360 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe, and various technology applications.
• Working knowledge of public policy processes at local, state, and federal levels.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong research and analytical skills are preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience engaging with external affairs, public policy, sales, investor relations, and/or stakeholder management is preferred.
