This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.
• Oversee essential financial reporting, accounting, and controllership functions that support Aetna’s Medicare Supplement business.
• Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Create, sustain, and improve financial reporting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Contribute to system implementations, reporting enhancements, and process redesign initiatives.
• Recognize opportunities to optimize processes via automation, data analytics, and technological solutions.
• Mentor and nurture team members to enhance their skills.
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, Operations, and business leadership.
• Over 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, financial reporting, or financial analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and the financial closing process.
• Experience managing intricate accounting and reporting tasks in a deadline-oriented atmosphere.
• Strong grasp of internal controls and SOX compliance standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Capability to forge relationships and effectively collaborate across Finance, Actuarial, Operations, and business sectors.
• Experience in the Medicare, Medicare Supplement, healthcare, or insurance sectors is preferred.
• Familiarity with Oracle, Hyperion, SmartView, SAP, or other enterprise financial systems is preferred.
• Experience with data analytics and automation tools such as SQL, Dataiku, Power BI, or similar technologies is preferred.
• Background in supporting finance transformation initiatives and process modernization efforts is preferred.
• Master’s degree or CPA license is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is preferred; equivalent years of relevant experience may also be considered.
