Manager, Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Analyze data to provide insights for business inquiries utilizing SQL.

• Create and sustain data visualization dashboards, including those made with Power BI.

• Develop and manage data pipelines and models primarily within GCP, Snowflake, and BigQuery.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, as well as with analysts and engineers on the team.

• Leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance analysis and development processes.

• Assess opportunities for AI/LLM-based methods, such as natural language querying, automated insight generation, and anomaly detection, to deliver business value.

• Assist leadership in making data-driven decisions via actionable insights and reporting tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data analysis, or BI development.

• Proficiency in utilizing AI tools to facilitate analysis, coding, and documentation.

• Strong SQL expertise, including the ability to write and optimize complex queries and transformations.

• Practical experience in developing dashboards, data models, and DAX measures in Power BI.

• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses; expertise in Snowflake or BigQuery is preferred.

• Experience in designing dimensional data models, such as star schemas, for analytical purposes.

• Experience in building and maintaining ETL/data pipelines.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

• Excellent communication skills for business contexts, capable of translating stakeholder inquiries into analyses and articulating technical findings to non-technical audiences.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

• Microsoft Power BI certification or comparable qualification is preferred.

• Familiarity with Python or another scripting language for data manipulation and automation is preferred.

• Experience with orchestration tools is preferred.

• Previous experience working directly with business stakeholders in a self-service analytics or embedded analyst role is preferred.

• Experience in applying AI/LLM-based methods to analytics and BI is preferred.
