This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and uphold the carrier network strategy, encompassing mode mix, lane coverage priorities, and minimum redundancy standards for carriers.
• Evaluate the capacity of the carrier portfolio against anticipated freight volumes and create mitigation strategies for any coverage gaps.
• Align carrier supply-side capacity with demand signals from Supply Chain Planning and Sales & Operations Planning; escalate any constraints across functions.
• Oversee the entire carrier qualification process, including compliance screenings and assessments of lane coverage.
• Lead carrier solicitation efforts and assess submitted rates against cost-per-mile benchmarks and established criteria.
• Manage the onboarding process for carriers, which includes SAP setup, TMS profile configuration, implementation calls, and FourKites activation.
• Direct the annual Request for Proposal (RFP) process, defining the scope, establishing carrier criteria, rate evaluation techniques, and approval authority.
• Oversee the cycles of rate review and negotiation; update the TMS with contractual lane rates accordingly.
• Establish and enforce standardized formats for rate input and decision logic for rate comparisons.
• Review and approve freight invoices from carriers, including those for drop trailer, detention, and accessorial charges.
• Maintain oversight of freight cost variances and coordinate the workflow for invoice approvals with the Finance department.
• Execute the monthly Carrier Network Compliance Review (CNCR) process, which includes TMS scorecards, corrective action calls, and documentation in SharePoint.
• Monitor carrier on-time delivery (OTD), frequency of accessorial charges, compliance with load notes, and tender acceptance rates.
• Define and manage escalation thresholds pertaining to carrier relationships.
• Act as the primary liaison for strategic carrier relationships, ensuring effective communication tracking.
• Lead calls for the implementation of new carriers and the re-onboarding of existing carriers.
• Conduct reviews of the network portfolio and optimize the carrier mix for improved service, cost, and capacity.
• Maintain the integrity of carrier profiles and data across TMS, CarrierSource, SAP, and FourKites.
• Integrate CNCR documentation with TMS performance metrics for a comprehensive view of carrier health.
• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
• 6-8 years of experience in transportation or carrier sourcing is necessary.
• Proven experience in leading RFP processes and managing carrier performance initiatives.
• Familiarity with TMS, SAP, and CarrierSource is preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of leading carrier RFP and rate negotiation processes.
• Comprehensive understanding of carrier qualification, compliance, and onboarding protocols.
• Ability to develop and manage carrier performance programs, including scorecards and corrective action measures.
• Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate network capacity, identify coverage gaps, and assess rate benchmarks.
• Proficiency in SAP, TMS, CarrierSource, and FourKites.
• Expertise in building and maintaining strategic relationships with carriers.
• Competence in coordinating freight settlement and invoice auditing processes with Finance.
• Keen attention to detail and a strong discipline in data governance across multiple systems.
• Effective communication across functions including Transportation, Procurement, and Distribution Analytics.
• Ability to manage competing priorities related to strategic sourcing and daily carrier performance challenges.
• Proficient in carrier sourcing and RFP management.
