Manager, Business Enterprise Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead the team responsible for developing and managing Wealthsimple's essential systems of record and integrations.

• Oversee a team of developers while actively contributing to coding and architectural decisions.

• Cultivate relationships with leaders in Finance, Legal, Customer Operations and Experience, Security, IT, and Data.

• Convert business operational challenges into technical requirements and suggest effective solutions.

• Write and evaluate production code while guiding complex integration designs.

• Establish and uphold technical standards through design reviews, code evaluations, and architectural guidance.

• Mentor, coach, and develop developers by setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting growth.

• Manage project delivery encompassing scope, sequencing, dependencies, risk, and reliable business status reporting.

• Ensure disciplined release and change management, which includes deployment schedules, environmental strategies, rollback procedures, and audit-ready controls.

• Monitor and report on team throughput, backlog health, and system risks.

• Report directly to the Senior Manager of Business Enterprise Systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in application development, including a minimum of 2 years managing a development team and guiding them to successfully deliver custom builds.

• Proficient in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python, with recent hands-on experience in building production systems.

• Experience in planning and promoting the professional development of individual team members, including conducting 1-1s, performance evaluations, providing ongoing feedback, setting goals, and facilitating promotions.

• A proven record of offering technical and process guidance to a team throughout the delivery process.

• Experience in planning and executing application projects like implementations, migrations, upgrades, and configurations, while organizing deadlines, resources, and engaging cross-functional stakeholders.

• Proven experience managing integrations and data flows across third-party software platforms.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform for automation in cloud environments like AWS or GCP.

• Experience in resource allocation and strategic roadmap development, including managing competing priorities across stakeholders and justifying trade-offs.

• Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with stakeholders at all levels and collaborate effectively across functions to meet shared business objectives.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and implement process improvements.

• Experience using AI tools to enhance development processes and automate business workflows.

• Familiarity with tool APIs such as Jira, Slack, Okta, Workato, and Google Workspace in an enterprise environment (preferred).

• Experience managing development teams within fast-growing technology settings or regulated industries such as fintech (preferred).

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
