Major Gifts Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +7 more locations.

📋 Description

• Identify, nurture, solicit, and manage a portfolio of major donors.

• Collaborate closely with the VP of Development, program team, and Mozilla's executive leadership.

• Familiarize yourself with the existing major gift portfolio and Salesforce pipeline while establishing connections with current donors.

• Transition active cultivation prospects towards solicitation.

• Work in partnership with prospect research to identify and assess new major gift prospects.

• Plan and implement stewardship touchpoints or donor events.

• Develop customized proposals and impact narratives utilizing insights from program and executive staff.

• Personally solicit and secure five-, six-, and seven-figure donations.

• Progress prospects through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship phases.

• Record donor interactions in Salesforce.

• Establish pathways for donor renewal and increased support.

• Convert annual donors into major gift contributors.

• Expand the major gift pipeline and contribute to achieving revenue objectives.

• Engage senior leaders in fostering appropriate donor relationships and pivotal moments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record in major gift fundraising, ideally within technology, advocacy, or public interest sectors.

• Demonstrated success in personally soliciting and securing five-, six-, and/or seven-figure donations from high-net-worth individuals.

• Capability to conceive, plan, and implement a major gifts program.

• Proficiency in building, prioritizing, and systematically managing a portfolio of donor relationships from identification to stewardship.

• Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

• Skill in translating complex technical concepts into engaging philanthropic opportunities.

• Strong proposal writing and presentation capabilities.

• Knowledge of donor cultivation strategies and moves management.

• Comfort with CRM systems and disciplined management of donor databases.

• Focused on managing a full portfolio with the initiative to engage in challenging conversations, including making the ask.

• Additional experience in digital rights, internet health, or technology policy; familiarity with Donor-Advised Funds; data-informed prospecting techniques such as wealth screening or predictive analytics tools; and planned and bequest giving is a plus.
