Mainframe Systems Programmer – Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Administer, configure, and install mainframe storage infrastructure, including DASD, tape, virtual tape, encryption, and replication for backup and disaster recovery.

• Provide support for DASD and tape storage administration to customers.

• Manage storage pools for various customers and LPARs.

• Conduct problem diagnostics and resolution.

• Create and manage daily, weekly, and monthly backup jobs.

• Engage in data center migration projects utilizing multiple methodologies.

• Execute data and volume recovery operations.

• Carry out data migrations between storage frames for current customers.

• Participate in disaster recovery testing.

• Collaborate with account management, customers, and both hardware and software vendors.

• Mentor and train members of the Storage team.

• Conduct software and hardware refreshes, customer migrations, and provide daily customer support.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, along with a bachelor’s degree; equivalent work experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.

• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and root cause analysis expertise.

• Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in analyzing performance on DASD and tape subsystems.

• Extensive knowledge of IBM storage software, including IBM Copy Services Manager/Global Mirroring, SMS, HSM, IDCAMS, and DFDSS.

• Experience in developing and executing Disaster Recovery plans.

• Expert knowledge of catalog structures, LPAR sysplexes, and resource sharing.

• In-depth understanding of DASD hardware configurations that incorporate replication.

• Extensive expertise with IBM and Oracle/STK tape hardware and software.

• Proficient in CA-1 and MIMTape.

• Functional skills with Dell/EMC systems.

• Functional skills with RMM, TLMS, GRS, Tapecopy, and SMF.

• Knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
