Mainframe Systems Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with ongoing initiatives that involve the installation, upgrades, testing, configuration, and implementation of ISV software.

• Oversee software performance and provide on-call assistance.

• Investigate and assess new software options.

• Aid colleagues and other departments with technical inquiries and issue resolution.

• Engage in the on-call rotation.

• Manage incidents, changes, and problems effectively.

• Configure and personalize systems as needed.

• Establish system parameters.

• Liaise with vendors for necessary communications.

• Take part in and contribute to various technical projects.

• Assist in problem resolution and the implementation of modifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a mainframe environment within a large enterprise, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A bachelor's degree is required, along with relevant work experience.

• Familiarity with z/OS and its installation and maintenance, including SMP/E.

• Proficient in TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JCL.

• Strong knowledge of Unix System Services (USS).

• Expertise in USS file system management and security.

• Capable of performing the responsibilities of a Mainframe System Programmer.

• Competent in executing moderately complex ISV installations.

• Skilled in problem-solving and implementing changes.

• Working knowledge of z/OS components and related support products.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Customer service skills at the management level.

• Excellent collaboration and teamwork capabilities.

• Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative.

• Effective planning and organizational skills.
