Mainframe Network Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrades of z/OS environments in both development and production systems.

• Design and manage the z/OS architecture, including Sysplex integration and CFRM policies.

• Manage hardware and software upgrade projects, which encompass datacenter migrations and exit planning.

• Conduct performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning, and workload management (WLM).

• Monitor system software access, performance metrics, and resource utilization.

• Maintain and manage z/OS and JES3 environments along with ISV software.

• Collaborate closely with application teams to ensure stability in production and facilitate issue resolution.

• Establish and enforce security protocols, access controls, and software usage policies.

• Implement and verify backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

• Guarantee high availability, system reliability, and environmental stability.

• Assist in incident and problem determination and resolution within established SLA timelines.

• Offer technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Manage and support mainframe networking protocols, including SNA, VTAM, and TCP/IP.

• Configure and maintain OSA networking interfaces.

• Possess a strong understanding of enterprise network infrastructure and security measures.

• Familiarity with routing protocols such as OSPF.

• Extensive experience in z/OS system programming and System z architecture.

• Proficient in Sysplex configuration, LPAR management, and system integration.

• Practical experience with SMP/E, IOCP, HCD, PARMLIB, and system configurations.

• Experience in installing and maintaining z/OS releases, RSU maintenance, and ISV products.

• Knowledge of JCL, utilities, and both batch and online processing environments.
