Mainframe Developer, MQ Series Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Create strategic account plans that align client technology roadmaps with mainframe solutions.

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to identify critical workloads and develop mainframe modernization proposals.

• Partner with solution architects and delivery teams to craft comprehensive solution narratives.

• Prepare proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), and effort estimates that encompass resourcing, timelines, and risk assessment.

• Evaluate new opportunities based on client intent, technical compatibility, budget, and complexity of implementation.

• Present information on mainframe technologies and their associated business advantages.

• Conduct pipeline reviews and monitor the health of opportunities.

• Assist pre-sales teams with demonstrations and Proofs of Concept (POCs).

• Keep track of market trends in mainframe and enterprise technology.

• Document client requirements and success criteria for seamless handoff to delivery teams.

• Work alongside legal and contracts teams to negotiate commercial terms.

• Ensure accurate CRM data for pipeline forecasting and reporting is maintained.

• Facilitate cross-time-zone collaboration during standard day-shift hours.

⛳️ Requirements

• Essential skills: Q Series, VSAM, CICS/DB2.

• 9-12 years of relevant experience is required.

• Advanced understanding of DB2 administration and programming.

• Practical experience with VSAM file structures and performance optimization.

• Proficient in Job Control Language (JCL).

• Strong experience with COBOL.

• Background in CICS, including transaction flows, concurrency, and resiliency design.

• Familiarity with IBM MQ messaging patterns.

• Demonstrated ability to link technical capabilities to industry use cases and business value.

• Native-level fluency in English, both written and verbal, including presentation skills.
