This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, construct, and implement machine learning systems aimed at enhancing the calibration, control, and functioning of quantum processors.
• Create reinforcement learning, Bayesian inference, and probabilistic modeling strategies for parameter adjustment, drift monitoring, and adaptive measurement on actual hardware.
• Innovate real-time parameter steering for calibration during Quantum Error Correction (QEC) and across circuits.
• Establish and sustain agentic frameworks for the autonomous control and calibration of systems.
• Develop and support Python-based machine learning services and libraries that integrate with the Quantum Machines control framework, including QUA, Qualibrate, and the OPX1000.
• Engage directly with clients and partner laboratories to implement, validate, and refine machine learning solutions in authentic experimental settings.
• Collaborate with product, research and development, and hardware teams on internal libraries, customer-facing software development kits (SDKs), and educational resources.
• PhD or Master's degree in Machine Learning, Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 4 years of pertinent experience.
• Strong foundation in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, with practical experience in at least one of the following: deep learning, reinforcement learning, or agentic AI.
• Proficient in Python, including experience with scientific or systems-oriented codebases.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles, encompassing architecture, Git workflows, testing, and code reviews.
• Demonstrated experience in advancing machine learning from prototype to deployment under real-world conditions, including non-stationary data, costly evaluations, or safety-critical action spaces.
• Background in robotics, online control, autonomous vehicles, or hardware-in-the-loop machine learning is highly applicable.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric approach.
• Capability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven history of software development and outstanding technical communication skills.
• Understanding of quantum computing principles, including qubit calibration, randomized benchmarking, QEC, and optimal control.
• Experience with sim-to-real, multi-objective reinforcement learning, or meta-learning is a plus.
