Senior AI/ML Engineer – Life Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the development of insights regarding the affordances of AI technology.

• Identify, refine, prioritize, and formalize requirements for ML- and AI-driven solutions tailored for bioinformatics, biostatistics, and data engineering.

• Provide both technical and strategic guidance for software solutions utilizing advanced AI and ML methodologies.

• Oversee the implementation and deployment of ML and AI solutions alongside AI/ML and software engineers.

• Establish an Agile framework to facilitate rapid iterative solutions.

• Formulate an AI strategy aimed at enhancing and accelerating bioinformatics, biostatistics, and data science processes.

• Lead the development of training resources, knowledge bases, and educational materials on advanced AI/ML technologies and best practices.

• Champion AI initiatives within biostatistics, bioinformatics, and data science domains.

• Address complex challenges employing sophisticated analytical reasoning and innovative approaches.

• Mentor and guide junior team members.

• Act as a subject matter expert during core and cross-functional meetings.

• Contribute creative ideas to the intellectual property portfolio.

• Convey intricate information effectively and influence decision-making processes.

• Uphold the company's mission and values while adhering to the Quality Management System.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ph.D. in Statistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or a Master’s Degree in one of these fields with 4 years of pertinent experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in statistics, computational biology, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative area.

• More than 5 years of experience working with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.

• Proficient in artificial neural networks, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.

• Expertise in AI/ML techniques applied to natural language processing, image processing and computer vision, or image and pattern recognition.

• Mastery of large language models for generative AI, transformer architecture, and retrieval-augmented generation.

• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with one or more ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or SKLearn.

• Knowledge and experience in utilizing open-source AI models.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clarify complex topics to diverse audiences.

• Capability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.

• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

• Preferred: Over 8 years of experience in the life sciences industry, specifically with biological data.

• Preferred: More than 8 years of industry experience in molecular diagnostics, ideally cancer diagnostics.

• Preferred: Expertise in healthcare data mining.

• Preferred: Basic understanding of MLOps and model versioning/deployment.

• Preferred: Scientific knowledge of cancer biology.

• Ability to adhere to the designated schedule.

• Capability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or computer, typing for approximately 85% of a typical workday.
