M&A Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Identify and source software companies that align with acquisition criteria and key performance indicators.

• Create and implement targeted prospecting campaigns through email outreach and outbound calls.

• Experiment with new business development approaches and manage a substantial volume of deal opportunities.

• Establish and maintain relationships with potential acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banking firms.

• Oversee preliminary assessments, including initial business and financial due diligence as well as opportunity and risk evaluations.

• Take ownership of and manage a comprehensive deal pipeline.

• Perform industry and market research to uncover trends and new acquisition possibilities.

• Review and evaluate investment materials, transforming data into actionable insights and presentations.

• Facilitate acquisition opportunities from sourcing through to execution.

• Prioritize and delegate tasks based on deal timelines and strategic significance.

• Provide ad hoc analytical and operational assistance to the wider team.

• Collaborate across departments on data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and deal execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate Development is essential.

• Previous involvement with software M&A transactions is preferred.

• Strong academic record from a prestigious institution.

• An undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline is advantageous.

• Professional maturity and confidence in engaging with C-level executives.

• Highly proactive, self-sufficient, and motivated, with strong sales and communication abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated potential for leadership.

• A solid grounding in accounting principles and financial modeling.

• Familiarity with software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.

• Strong analytical skills, pattern recognition capabilities, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
