M&A Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Identify and source software companies that align with acquisition criteria and key performance indicators.

• Create and implement focused prospecting campaigns through email outreach and outbound calls.

• Experiment with innovative business development strategies and seek out deal opportunities.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banking firms.

• Lead initial evaluations for acquisitions, encompassing business and financial due diligence.

• Evaluate potential opportunities and associated risks.

• Oversee and maintain the deal pipeline, ensuring it reflects the latest information and targets.

• Perform industry and market research to pinpoint trends and acquisition prospects.

• Review and assess investment documentation.

• Distill large amounts of data into clear, concise, and actionable insights and presentations.

• Propel acquisition opportunities throughout the deal lifecycle, from sourcing to execution.

• Prioritize and assign tasks according to deal timelines and strategic significance.

• Offer ad hoc analytical and operational support to the wider team.

• Collaborate across departments on data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and deal execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate Development is essential.

• Previous experience with software M&A transactions is mandatory.

• Strong academic record from a leading institution.

• An undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline is preferred.

• Professional maturity and confidence in engaging with C-level executives.

• Highly proactive, self-motivated, and driven, with exceptional sales and communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal abilities and demonstrated leadership potential.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling.

• Familiarity with software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.

• Strong analytical skills, pattern recognition abilities, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
