
M365 Tenant Migration Subject Matter Expert, Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Lead and manage the complete migration of Microsoft 365 services from a Commercial tenant to a GCC Moderate tenant.
• Act as the project manager and primary point of contact for planning, coordinating, executing, and completing the migration.
• Create and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, resource allocations, risk registers, issue logs, decision logs, and executive status reports.
• Guide cross-functional teams including cloud engineers, M365 administrators, cybersecurity experts, service desk personnel, application owners, and customer stakeholders.
• Plan and supervise migration tasks for Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Intune, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Defender, and other Microsoft 365 services.
• Coordinate readiness assessments, technical discovery, dependency analyses, pilot deployments, migration waves, production cutovers, and post-migration stabilization activities.
• Ensure adherence to federal security regulations, agency policies, industry best practices, workstation hardening, identity management, endpoint security, and compliance controls.
• Manage functionality validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), application integration testing, security validation, and readiness reviews for production.
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate risks, issues, dependencies, and impacts on the schedule.
• Develop and implement communication strategies for executives, technical teams, and end users.
• Present project updates, technical recommendations, risks, and readiness assessments to executive and governmental stakeholders.
• Oversee change management, stakeholder engagement, user communications, training coordination, and adoption strategies.
• Ensure the migration of user accounts, mailboxes, collaboration platforms, endpoint management configurations, security policies, compliance settings, and integrated applications.
• Collaborate with Microsoft, third-party vendors, and migration tool providers.
• Create operational documentation, knowledge articles, support procedures, and transition materials.
• Record lessons learned, identify opportunities for process improvements, and apply best practices for future cloud migration projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Additional years of experience and/or relevant certifications may be considered and/or accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Generally, 4+ years of experience supervising or leading teams and projects.
• 4+ years of experience supervising or leading project teams focused on M365 tenant migrations.
• Extensive experience covering all aspects of M365 tenant migration, including project planning, requirements gathering, scheduling, communications, testing, and cutover activities.
• In-depth experience supporting all aspects of Microsoft 365 and related Microsoft systems.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary and diverse teams supporting multiple customers.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts both verbally and in writing to executive-level leadership.
• Availability to provide support Monday–Friday during Eastern Time Zone business hours.
• Capability to lead support issues to a successful resolution while keeping management and senior leadership updated.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must meet eligibility criteria for access to the customer's information.
• Preferred: 5 years of experience in workstation systems management and systems administration support.
• Preferred: 5 years of experience supporting Microsoft M365.
• Preferred: 8 years in a program/project management capacity.
• Preferred: Experience in government contracting.
• Preferred: DOJ or DOD clearance.
• Preferred: Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and experience, particularly with ServiceNow.
• Preferred: Proficiency in creating and presenting Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.
