This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct underwriting surveys as assigned at various prospect and policyholder sites.
• Define operational activities, key employee injury and illness risks, and applicable controls.
• Identify and assess workplace safety and health risks, including ergonomics, machinery hazards, falls, vehicle-related risks, and occupational diseases.
• Assess the efficacy of existing safety and health programs.
• Identify intricate engineering and administrative controls to minimize the potential for workers’ compensation losses.
• Utilize evidence-based safety and health strategies to spot trends and prioritize service needs across multiple locations.
• Create safety and health service plans and provide continuous consultation.
• Supervise the activities and recommendations of other Safety & Health personnel working on assigned accounts.
• Ensure the delivery of effective and cost-efficient services.
• Persuade policyholder decision-makers to adopt recommended actions.
• Compile reports for policyholders and internal stakeholders, including executive summaries and annual reports.
• Develop and facilitate training sessions for policyholders.
• Investigate significant workers’ compensation incidents.
• Establish and nurture relationships with policyholders and agencies.
• Promote Zenith and the Safety & Health department within cross-functional marketing teams.
• Collaborate with regional and corporate Safety & Health leaders to enhance service delivery and account performance.
• Adhere to standards for work quality, productivity, and service timelines.
• Engage in projects and undertake other assigned responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, science, or engineering.
• A Master’s Degree in a safety or health-related field is preferred; at least one recognized professional designation such as CSP, ARM, or CIH is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and health is mandatory.
• A demonstrated history of success in coordinating services for large, multi-location accounts is required.
• Strong familiarity with P&C insurance agent and broker operations is highly preferred.
• Excellent ability to gather, analyze, and report loss data.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance, including experience modification, underwriting, loss-sensitive plans, and claims practices.
• Working knowledge of return-to-work program features and their benefits.
• A solid understanding of key performance measures for workers’ compensation insurance carriers and the financial implications for the Safety & Health department.
• A basic understanding of occupational medicine provider network features and advantages.
• Proficient communication, sales, and presentation skills are essential.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common business applications is necessary.
• Capability to learn and effectively utilize proprietary Zenith systems.
• A valid Driver's License in good standing is required.
