Longitudinal Study Development Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tanzania.

📋 Description

• Create 3–4 customized funding proposals for a longitudinal study.

• Design a comprehensive conceptual and technical framework for the study that includes research questions, theory of change, target population, sampling, measurement domains, tools, skill retention, exposure patterns, implementation assumptions, analysis, timeline, and budget.

• Develop a narrative that aligns evidence and investment with Ubongo's 2026 MEL Repositioning and Learning Powerhouse framework.

• Integrate proposals, the study design framework, and the evidence narrative into a cohesive final funding and technical package.

• Tailor proposals to address the priorities of funders while ensuring the core study concept remains consistent.

• Provide regular updates on progress and engage in scheduled check-in calls.

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Product Officer, Director of Education and Research, MEL Manager, and other relevant internal teams.

• Report directly to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager.

• Ensure delivery of outputs between October and December 2026.

• Note that the consultancy does not include field implementation, baseline preparation, recruitment, or data collection.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing longitudinal or other rigorous education and/or child development research studies.

• Proven ability to develop funder-ready research proposals and investment cases.

• Strong understanding of research design, sampling, measurement, longitudinal analysis, and considerations for study implementation.

• Experience in crafting theories of change and conceptual frameworks that connect learning drivers to educational and developmental outcomes.

• Capability to convey complex technical research concepts into clear and engaging narratives for funders and non-technical stakeholders.

• Background in education, media, edtech, social impact, international development, or MEL is preferred.

• Excellent skills in written communication, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and project management.

• Experience working in various African contexts and/or with organizations operating in multiple countries is an advantage.

• Submit a concise technical proposal and workplan limited to 2 pages.

• Provide a financial proposal in United States dollars.

• Include relevant examples of longitudinal study designs, research proposals, or similar assignments.

• Supply the CV of the lead consultant and key team members, if applicable.
