Long Term Substitute, Special Education Teacher – iLEAD Exploration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the School Director and/or their designee, along with the Director of Student Support and Facilitator.

• Assist all students in a general education setting as required, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Deliver specialized instruction in alignment with IEPs.

• Plan, develop, implement, manage, and revise IEPs in partnership with IEP Teams.

• Provide academic instruction while fostering social, emotional, and educational goals.

• Engage and collaborate with parents, facilitators, administrators, and Care Teams.

• Create teaching strategies and modify activities, lessons, curriculum, and projects for an inclusive educational environment.

• Monitor, assess, and document student progress using suitable measurement and assessment tools.

• Maintain consistent communication with parents through support, coaching, and understanding.

• Ensure a safe, secure, and effective learning environment while enforcing reasonable classroom rules.

• Implement inclusive practices via co-teaching models.

• Provide crisis intervention and support as necessary.

• Take part in the Student Study Team process and suggest interventions.

• Work collaboratively with facilitators and CARE Teams to offer accommodations and differentiation.

• Employ educational technology and computer applications effectively.

• Engage in continuous professional development and fulfill additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, including all required courses to meet credential standards.

• Credentials necessary to satisfy the assignment requirements as determined by state and local governing bodies.

• Appropriate Special Education licensure and required credentials in California, including AAAS (Added Autism Authorization).

• Successful completion of a student-teaching/internship program is essential.

• Experience in teaching students with special needs.

• Demonstrated effective classroom and learner behavior management skills.

• Familiarity with current special education practices and methodologies.

• Understanding of state, local, and federal regulations and policies regarding special education.

• Knowledge of current special education technology applications.

• Capability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to travel via public transit and operate a vehicle for self-transportation between worksites as needed.

• Competence in making informed and swift decisions in high-pressure situations.

• Ability to read detailed documentation and analyze data sets.

• Proficient in professional writing and public speaking skills.
