This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and nurture relationships with local governments, public works departments, utilities, community leaders, chambers of commerce, economic development councils, and community organizations.
• Assist in network expansion by managing permitting, right-of-way, construction coordination, and community-related challenges.
• Aid local leaders in addressing right-of-way, permitting, pole attachment/joint use, and other related matters with states, counties, cities, and third parties.
• Monitor field issues, community inquiries, complaint resolution performance, and service quality levels.
• Engage with mayors, city council members, county commissioners, administrators, and staff to convey Ziply Fiber’s vision and initiatives, seeking their support.
• Act as the primary liaison for Network Operations regarding local government issues and constituent inquiries.
• Address resident and business concerns related to construction activities and develop mutually beneficial solutions.
• Support active construction areas by tackling local jurisdiction and community challenges.
• Proactively identify solutions, eliminate barriers, and ensure construction projects remain on schedule.
• Analyze and interpret right-of-way agreements, franchises, municipal codes, and construction standards to guide construction and installation teams.
• Monitor and report on progress against organizational performance goals, providing leadership with insights into local market outcomes.
• Carry out additional tasks as needed to support the business and its evolving needs.
• Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, communications, business, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience collaborating with local governments or public agencies on capital projects, land use and right-of-way issues, permitting, public works, utility coordination, or related municipal infrastructure matters.
• Proven experience working directly with local governments, public works departments, utilities, and/or agencies involved in right-of-way, permitting, construction oversight, or municipal coordination.
• Background in navigating governmental processes, municipal codes, public works standards, and utility coordination requirements across various jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply city ordinances, municipal codes, and construction standards in a practical, operations-focused context.
• Experience in public policy/compliance implementation.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to lead and manage projects and tasks while effectively representing Ziply Fiber.
• Willingness to travel locally up to 50%, especially during peak construction periods.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience in the telecommunications sector is preferred.
• Experience working with state, county, and municipal officials on infrastructure projects, right-of-way management, or public utilities coordination is preferred.
• Understanding of operations teams and outside plant teams is preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience working on federal, state, local, broadband, and telecommunications issues is preferred.
• Familiarity with municipal public works processes, utility permitting workflows, and coordination requirements for fiber or infrastructure deployment is preferred.
• A robust portfolio of relationships across state and local government is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills in various situations.
• Capacity to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate database records, update reports, and track and communicate progress.
• Excellent problem-solving, partnership, and collaboration skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
• Ability to present information to residents, businesses, municipal leadership, community members, and employees.
• Comfort in presenting at public meetings and receiving immediate feedback.
