Literacy Researcher – Education

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess and/or offer technical support for extensive educational enhancement initiatives.

• Assist in the development of resources and professional learning programs focused on foundational skills, reading comprehension, multilingual learners, writing from source materials, and disciplinary literacy.

• Deliver ELA/literacy expertise through consultation and focused contributions.

• Aid in literacy assessment, evaluation of literacy-centered instructional practices, review of ELA curricular materials, and synthesis of contemporary literacy research.

• Oversee substantial tasks within complex projects, including survey collection, analysis, and training as well as leading classroom observation teams.

• Support budgeting and project management tasks.

• Relay data and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Participate in or spearhead proposal writing and generate creative literacy education proposal concepts.

• Mentor and facilitate the professional development of colleagues.

• Engage in mentorship and professional development embedded within projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A cover letter is necessary, detailing interest in the role along with training and experience in ELA/literacy.

• A PhD in education or a social sciences discipline OR a relevant master’s degree with 5 years of experience in research and/or technical assistance.

• Proven expertise in ELA/literacy through coursework, prior professional experience, and/or a dissertation or publications.

• Familiarity with various research and/or technical assistance methodologies.

• Strongly preferred: experience in K-12 educational environments.

• Ability to manage and lead multiple projects concurrently while adapting to shifting priorities.

• Excellent organizational skills and relational practices.

• Experience in producing clear and concise verbal and written communications for diverse audiences.

• Willingness to travel 5-6 times a year for school site visits, with many visits lasting 3-4 days.

• U.S. citizenship is required due to contractual obligations.

• Desired: K-12 teaching experience in the U.S. public education system, particularly in historically underserved communities.

• Desired: expertise in systems change at the school, district, or state levels.

• Desired: multilingual and multicultural experiences.

• Desired: proficiency in foundational literacy, reading comprehension, classroom instructional practices, ELA/literacy curriculum, measuring instructional quality, K-12 teacher professional learning, literacy assessments, interventions or multi-tiered systems of support, instructional leadership, culturally sustaining practices, multilingual learners, or AI in writing instruction or assessment.
