Literacy Research Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess and/or offer technical support for extensive improvement initiatives as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Assist in the development of professional learning programs and resources focusing on foundational skills, reading comprehension, multilingual learners, writing from source materials, and disciplinary literacy.

• Deliver ELA/literacy expertise through consultation and focused contributions.

• Carry out literacy assessments, instructional practice evaluations, curricular material reviews, and synthesis of literacy research.

• Perform literature reviews, website evaluations, document assessments, and policy analyses.

• Aid in data collection and analysis, including surveys, data visualizations, classroom observations, interviews, and qualitative assessments.

• Provide project management and coordination support, including tracking milestones, suggesting procedures, and overseeing project documentation and databases.

• Prepare district research applications and Institutional Review Board submissions.

• Facilitate meetings by documenting notes, synthesizing themes, coordinating feedback, analyzing data, and summarizing outcomes.

• Create reports, briefs, and presentations tailored for non-academic, academic, and policy audiences.

• Integrate diverse perspectives and experiences into project work.

• Engage in ongoing mentorship and professional development embedded within projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A cover letter is required, detailing your interest in the position along with your training and experience in ELA/literacy.

• A Master’s degree in social sciences, education, policy, or related disciplines is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of ELA/literacy teaching experience (K–12) within the U.S. public education system, particularly in historically underserved communities.

• U.S. citizenship is required due to contract stipulations.

• Familiarity with various research and/or technical assistance methodologies.

• Experience with research techniques such as large-scale surveys, experimental research, or case study methods, preferably within K–12 educational settings.

• Background in technical assistance methods, including needs sensing, technical assistance planning, educator professional learning design, or creating tools for data use and evidence-based practices in K–12 systems.

• Proven ability in writing clear, concise research summaries and report sections or converting research into presentations, tools, and resources for educators and policymakers.

• Capability to discuss research tasks or technical assistance activities with individuals and organizations in the field, study sites, or participants.

• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Willingness to travel 5–6 times a year for school site visits, typically lasting 3–4 days.

• Writing samples will be required during the interview process.
