This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
β’ Review, modify, and rewrite original texts into clear, concise, and easily understandable language while adhering to client brand and style guidelines.
β’ Adapt materials for various educational levels, cultural contexts, and accessibility requirements of diverse target audiences.
β’ Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
β’ Maintain consistency and coherence across documents by applying readability best practices, including Flesch-Kincaid and accessibility standards.
β’ Conduct comprehensive quality reviews and finalize documents for submission.
β’ Convert government forms, letters, and public notices into clear, simple English tailored to literacy levels, such as a 5th-grade reading level.
β’ Demonstrated experience in professional writing, editing, or plain language communication.
β’ Experience in government, public sector, or healthcare communications is highly advantageous.
β’ Strong understanding of English grammar, syntax, style, and regional/idiomatic nuances.
β’ Familiarity with cognitive accessibility guidelines, "easy read" standards, and document design/remediation.
β’ Strong commitment to maintaining professional confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive public sector information.
β’ Proficient in using content management tools, collaboration platforms, and Adobe markup tools for document reviews.
β’ Access to a reliable computer and a secure/private, high-speed internet connection.
