This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage and supervise the comprehensive state licensing process for the organization, branch locations, and individual MLOs, encompassing new applications, renewals, deficiencies, and amendments.
• Lead, train, and enhance the licensing team, overseeing workload allocation and ensuring quality control over licensing submissions.
• Act as the primary liaison with state regulators, coordinating the necessary information and addressing any unresolved or escalated licensing issues.
• Develop and uphold licensing policies, procedures, and best practices across all states.
• Oversee the designation and upkeep of branch manager licenses and their qualifications.
• Review and analyze state-specific licensing prerequisites.
• Manage the application and reporting processes via NMLS, including requests for supporting documentation.
• Ensure that MLOs and branches maintain accurate and up-to-date licensing records.
• Supervise company license renewals and track MLO continuing education requirements.
• Manage and uphold surety bond obligations tied to state licenses.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, and accounting teams regarding state renewals, registrations, and necessary reporting.
• Keep abreast of changes in regulatory and licensing requirements and convey the impacts to leadership.
• Provide updates on licensing status, risk assessments, and reports to senior leadership.
• Communicate licensing requirements, status updates, renewals, and regulatory changes to stakeholders.
• Assess licensing requirements and timelines to facilitate new market entry and expansion initiatives.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be taken into account.
• Over 7 years of recent experience in mortgage origination licensing, compliance, or regulatory reporting, with prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of mortgage origination reporting (call reports, HMDA, state-specific reporting), the licensing renewal process, and maintaining licensing information in NMLS and loan origination systems.
• Strong understanding of state business renewal, registration, and reporting processes (Secretary of State, Department of Revenue).
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience in managing, training, and developing a team.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong time and project management abilities.
• High attention to detail with the capability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated capacity to take ownership of complex assignments and follow them through to completion.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word), one or more loan origination platforms, NMLS, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF files).
• Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with legal, compliance, accounting, and executive leadership.
