This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Provide comprehensive legal and administrative assistance to Verra’s internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with members of the Legal, Risk and Governance Department and teams such as Registry, Program Management, IT, HR, Fundraising, Finance, and Program Development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, consulting contracts, partnership agreements, fundraising agreements, memoranda of understanding, data-sharing agreements, and licensing agreements.
• Oversee contract administration, modifications, execution, tracking, archiving, and repository management.
• Create and evaluate internal governance policies and processes.
• Draft board minutes, resolutions, and associated documentation.
• Acknowledge complaints, maintain case-management records, and coordinate responses with Program Management and Development.
• Assist with inquiries from regulatory agencies and facilitate document production.
• Support the enforcement of Verra’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Negotiate and formalize IP and data-licensing agreements with relevant licensees.
• Monitor potential trademark infringements and develop resolution strategies.
• Manage the Logo mailbox to ensure compliance with established policies.
• Advise the Registry Team on the interpretation of Registry Terms of Use and other registry-related inquiries.
• Provide document management, data synthesis, and case analysis for contentious matters and litigation.
• Oversee invoice tracking, mailbox management, internal communications, and the LRGD intranet homepage.
• Triage legal inquiries and direct requests to appropriate Legal, Risk and Governance Department or Verra team members.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, focusing on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on corporate governance.
• Qualification to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, with valid practicing equivalent authorization.
• Technical proficiency in at least three key areas of responsibility.
• Ability to provide clear, robust, and pragmatic legal counsel on complex legal issues.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Generalist mindset and eagerness to work across multiple functional areas while learning new areas of law.
• Strong organizational and time-management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships across departments, functions, and geographic locations.
• Professional demeanor, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the capability to manage complex, confidential, and nuanced matters across jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with environmental, energy, and social markets such as carbon markets, carbon crediting, and offsetting is a plus.
• Proficiency in English as the primary business language for both written and verbal communication.
• Access to reliable Wi-Fi and a distraction-free workspace.
