Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the legal aspects of significant tenders and public procurement processes.

• Define the company's stance on contract terms and the strategy for negotiations.

• Lead negotiations and finalize major customer contracts.

• Collaborate with colleagues across various departments to align on commercial, technical, and operational aspects.

• Guide major opportunities from preliminary evaluation to executed contracts.

• Draft and negotiate agreements related to SaaS, licensing, implementation, professional services, NDAs, data processing terms, partnerships, and reseller arrangements.

• Provide counsel on matters related to data protection and privacy, intellectual property and licensing, as well as daily commercial issues.

• Work closely with the CEO, CFO, and CPO to convert legal risks into actionable business decisions.

• Utilize AI and advanced tools in legal tasks and contribute to the evolution of their application in the legal field.

• Act in place of the General Counsel during absences or other obligations.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess a law degree and a valid practising certificate, qualified in the UK, the US, or a Commonwealth jurisdiction such as Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or Canada.

• Several years of practical experience since your qualification.

• Extensive, hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating intricate technology contracts, particularly in SaaS, having personally led those negotiations.

• Communicates with clarity, providing concise responses to senior stakeholders without unnecessary elaboration.

• Comfortable navigating a wide range of tasks, shifting between major negotiations and smaller advisory inquiries within the same day.

• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions.

• Proactive in thinking ahead and enhancing recurring legal processes.

• Builds trust throughout the organization and engages stakeholders early in the process.

• Interested in the role of AI in legal work, recognizing where professional judgment remains essential.

• Confident in your own judgment regarding risk and able to defend it.

• Capable of engaging in difficult discussions with senior individuals while preserving positive working relationships.

• Must possess the existing right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Experience in public sector procurement, especially in North America (preferable).

• Background in public transport, mobility, fare collection, payments, or another regulated infrastructure setting (preferable).
