Legal Accounting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Ensure comprehensive and precise financial records for the firm’s IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.

• Diligently process trust transactions while maintaining current, accurate, and fully traceable IOLTA records.

• Perform reconciliations of bank, trust, operating, and accounting records, investigating and addressing discrepancies.

• Handle deposits, disbursements, transfers, invoices, expenses, and other financial transactions with appropriate supporting documentation.

• Keep QuickBooks orderly and updated.

• Generate recurring financial, reconciliation, and transaction reports utilizing QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

• Assist with month-end accounting processes by reviewing balances, organizing records, and completing reconciliations.

• Collaborate with legal and operational team members when additional information, approvals, or corrections are required.

• Detect unusual activities, missing documentation, or potential accounting concerns and proactively address them.

• Uphold strict confidentiality when managing client funds, financial records, settlement-related information, and internal business data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or completion of relevant accounting coursework.

• Prior hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience within a U.S. law firm.

• Proven experience in managing IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, including transactions, reconciliations, reports, and account records.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, data organization, and financial reporting.

• Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.

• Ability to quickly learn new workflows, handle competing priorities, work independently, and maintain accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced legal environment.

• Experience in a personal injury law firm, month-end closing, settlement-related transactions, client ledgers, or process improvement is a plus.
