This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a collaborative team engaged in high-voltage electric transmission line design projects.

• Act as Lead Engineer and Technical Project Manager for both overhead and underground transmission systems ranging from 34.5 kV to 765 kV.

• Implement NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other relevant engineering standards.

• Direct engineering analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, foundation design, structure framing, hardware assembly design, specifications, bills of materials, and procurement documentation.

• Lead activities related to project planning, engineering, environmental considerations, permitting, and construction management.

• Utilize AI, automation, and digital design tools to enhance grid modernization and boost design efficiency.

• Manage client relationships, staff coordination, proposal preparation, scope definition and modifications, project execution, and business development.

• Establish expectations, goals, and vision; oversee direct-report performance; mentor, coach, and assign tasks.

• Guide multiple design teams across various projects and programs for different clients.

• Train, mentor, and nurture engineering talent within Leidos.

• Approve timesheets and conduct annual performance evaluations.

• Participate in the leadership team for the Transmission Line Section.

• Prepare responses for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, while defining scopes of work.

• Advocate for continuous improvement, innovation, and automation.

• Delegate responsibilities, anticipate workloads, and assist in recruitment for expansion.

• Ensure quality control for deliverables from the execution team.

• Collaborate with clients to foster business development and maintain long-term relationships.

• Manage portfolio health, scope, schedules, and budgets through Project Managers.

• Assist in schedule adherence with assigned Lead Engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or, preferably, Mechanical Engineering, with over 8 years of relevant experience in designing high-voltage electric utility transmission systems.

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.

• Engineer In Training (EIT) certification.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team setting.

• Exceptional communication skills to function as the primary client liaison.

• Strong business acumen and a proven track record of meeting project performance metrics.

• A genuine desire and ability to mentor and develop staff.

• Willingness to work onsite in a Leidos or client office; occasional travel may be necessary.

• At least 2 years of experience supervising staff is preferred.

• A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is favorable.

• Familiarity with TOWER is advantageous.

• P.E. certification or the ability to obtain P.E. certification within 6 months is preferred.

• Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and GIS is a plus.
