This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the primary technical expert for Nextracker installation tooling, tool-support workshops, and field deployment operations.
• Strategically plan, organize, and oversee the delivery, setup, commissioning, calibration, relocation, and demobilization of tool-support workshops and field equipment.
• Identify and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and controls-related issues.
• Convert schematics, product literature, service documentation, and safe operating procedures into actionable field instructions and corrective measures.
• Develop, review, and maintain Job Hazard Analyses, safety plans, method statements, inspection records, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) documentation.
• Direct field tool-support operations in collaboration with owners, customers, subcontractors, construction teams, Field Operations, Engineering, Service, and management.
• Anticipate tooling needs, construction timelines, site specifications, staffing levels, equipment availability, and documentation priorities.
• Offer technical guidance, coaching, and training on tool setup, safe operation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation practices.
• Create preventive maintenance protocols, troubleshooting guides, inspection checklists, training materials, and standard operational procedures.
• Document field observations, failure patterns, corrective actions, and lessons learned to enhance product and process improvements.
• Keep service records, parts usage logs, tool inventories, calibration records, repair documentation, and customer communications updated.
• Weigh safety, quality, schedule, customer obligations, and costs in field-related decisions.
• Advocate for safe work practices and adherence to federal, state, local, customer, and Nextracker EH&S regulations.
• Execute related responsibilities and travel to customer and construction sites as needed.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, Maintenance Technology, or a similar technical field is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in supporting installation tooling, construction equipment, industrial equipment, field service, equipment maintenance, or a related technical environment.
• In-depth knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience in troubleshooting intricate equipment issues, determining root causes, and implementing safe, effective corrective actions.
• Proven ability to independently lead technical work in active construction, manufacturing, industrial, or customer sites with fluctuating priorities and minimal supervision.
• Experience in developing or delivering technical training, mentoring less-experienced technicians, and conveying technical information to audiences with varying expertise levels.
• Familiarity with field safety practices, Job Hazard Analyses, equipment inspections, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable EH&S regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of maintaining precise service, inventory, maintenance, and project documentation.
• Competence in building and sustaining effective relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% as necessary, work extended or non-standard hours if required, and support active construction sites.
• Preferred: experience with solar tracker installation tools, torque/tensioning equipment, hydraulic power units, electrical controls, calibration systems, or similar renewable-energy construction equipment.
• Preferred: experience with forklifts, reach forklifts, skid steers or Bobcats, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, laser levels, transits, and other construction or material-handling machinery.
• Preferred: current or prior certifications for forklift operation, aerial lift, OSHA/authorized safety training, first aid/CPR, or equivalent equipment and site safety programs.
• Preferred: experience in supporting multi-site deployments, customer-facing field service initiatives, new tool introductions, or equipment standardization efforts.
• Preferred: familiarity with maintenance management, service ticketing, inventory, calibration, or enterprise documentation systems.
