Lead Technical Field Advisor – Steam Turbine, Generator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical leadership and oversee field execution for mechanical maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and outage activities related to Steam Turbines and Generators at utility and industrial power plants.

• Act as the primary technical contact on-site for the execution of complex jobs.

• Direct the on-site mechanical scope execution for maintenance and outage activities involving Steam Turbines, Generators, and Valves in accordance with safety protocols.

• Take ownership of field execution at the site, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and meets quality standards.

• Coordinate with other Technical Field Advisors (TFAs), contractors, and customer personnel during intricate outages.

• Analyze drawings, P&IDs, schematics, procedures, and technical documentation to facilitate field operations.

• Drive the processes of disassembly, inspection, reassembly, alignment, and troubleshooting of turbine and generator components.

• Assist with outage planning, execution monitoring, issue resolution, and post-outage closure.

• Mentor and provide support to fellow field team members.

• Cultivate strong customer relationships through effective communication and dependable execution.


⛳️ Requirements

• Technical or university degree, or equivalent relevant experience; or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 8 years of Field Services experience.

• At least 8 years of cumulative experience in power plants (Utility, industrial, Oil & Gas) or in maintenance, turbine generator upkeep, or power plant equipment installation.

• Capability to independently lead site execution and manage complex outage scopes.

• Practical experience in dismantling, inspecting, reassembling, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and OEM documentation.

• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong documentation and reporting skills.

• Proficiency in English is required.

• Training on GE or Alstom technologies is preferred.

• Completion of Generator/Steam Turbine Technical Field Advisor (TFA) training or its equivalent is preferred.

• On-site experience with GE or Alstom generator equipment is preferred.

• Robust knowledge and experience in overseeing outage management within a competency, with potential expertise in a secondary competency.

• Skills in mentoring and leading a team.

• Strong aptitude for managing relationships with customers on technical and contractual matters.

• Excellent organizational, project management, oral/written communication, and interpersonal/leadership skills.
