Lead Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Mission Architecture team to create mission concepts, conduct architecture trade studies, and establish technical baselines for upcoming missions and proposals.

• Design and sustain mission-level system models that encompass architecture, requirements, interfaces, and behavior.

• Act as the primary technical authority for an assigned mission, guiding its conceptualization, design, development, and essential technical trades.

• Customize and execute the Muon mission design process.

• Convert customer goals and stakeholder requirements into precise, verifiable technical specifications.

• Function as the main technical liaison for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

• Oversee requirements traceability, verification, and validation processes.

• Define mission CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets, including power, data, mass, and pointing/stability.

• Identify and address mission risks while communicating their impacts.

• Evaluate and coordinate interdisciplinary design alterations throughout the program lifecycle.

• Lead design, test readiness, and flight readiness assessments.

• Monitor on-orbit spacecraft and data pipelines to guarantee mission success and fulfillment of customer requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and promote collaboration across systems, hardware, software, data, ground segment, and operations teams.

• Serve as the Mission Lead Systems Engineer for one mission while also supporting other Muon missions.

• Enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies for mission development and operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in complex systems, mission architecture, and/or spacecraft design.

• Extensive development experience for government and/or high-demand commercial clients.

• Experience as a technical lead, such as Chief Engineer or Lead Systems Engineer, on at least one complex system design.

• Familiarity with significant space programs for US Government, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and/or commercial customers.

• Knowledge of US Government/Intelligence Community acquisition programs, space systems development standards, and mission assurance regulations.

• Strong grasp of US Government/Intelligence Community contracts and associated documentation.

• Experience in supporting proposal development, including responses to RFI/RFP for government contracts.

• Extensive experience in system modeling, systems analysis, and simulations.

• Proven track record in system integration and the delivery of complex systems.

• Experience in formal requirements management for multidisciplinary projects.

• Demonstrated project management abilities and capacity to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, and coordination skills.

• Ability to swiftly adapt roles and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

• Eligibility for access to export-controlled information under U.S. Government regulations: U.S. person, eligible without export authorization, or eligible and likely to obtain authorization.
