Lead Splicing Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee field service operations concerning telecommunications cable splicing, fiber optic network setup, and outside plant activities.

• Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery, including bucket trucks, to reach elevated work locations.

• Employ diagnostic instruments, telecommunications testing devices, voltmeters, and schematics to diagnose network problems and carry out repairs.

• Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables in outdoor settings, ensuring compliance with industry regulations such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

• Analyze technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting manuals to conduct accurate installations of cabling and network infrastructures.

• Manage telecommunications cable splicing initiatives from inception to completion, covering planning, execution, quality assurance, and documentation.

• Deliver technical troubleshooting assistance for fiber optic systems, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet configurations, telephony systems, and low-voltage electrical elements.

• Supervise technical teams in outdoor settings while ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in field service positions related to telecommunications outside plant operations and the installation of fiber optic systems.

• In-depth understanding of telecommunications cable splicing techniques, fiber splicing methodologies, and the deployment of network infrastructure.

• Capability to safely operate heavy machinery such as bucket trucks; climbing proficiency is essential for outdoor job sites.

• Proficient with diagnostic instruments, including voltmeters and telecommunications testing tools, as well as interpreting technical drawings or schematics.

• Practical experience with hand tools, power tools, construction practices, electrical tasks, and low-voltage wiring.

• Knowledge of computer networking principles, including LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet cabling, IT infrastructure components, and telephony systems.

• Familiarity with safety regulations such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) relevant to outdoor telecommunications operations.

• Exceptional engineering troubleshooting capabilities along with a proactive mindset towards problem-solving in outdoor conditions.

• Experience in construction within outdoor settings, particularly focusing on telecommunications or electrical projects, is highly advantageous.

• Ability to accurately interpret technical schematics; experience with telecommunications schematics is preferred.

• Strong communication abilities for collaborating with team members and offering technical assistance when necessary.

• Must be residing in the United States.
