Lead Software Engineer – Kafka

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, configure, and oversee the maintenance of Confluent Kafka clusters across multi-data-center and cloud environments.

• Implement measures for authorization, authentication, and schema governance.

• Create real-time data pipelines utilizing Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and KSQL/FlinkSQL.

• Monitor system metrics and resolve performance issues to ensure optimal availability.

• Offer consultative insights on technology trends and their implications for the Bank's infrastructure.

• Provide training and mentorship on new technologies to team members.

• Deliver technical guidance and direction to associates, management, and developmental project teams.

• Develop software solutions to tackle complex technical challenges.

• Advise on strategies that align developmental projects with long-term business objectives and technological direction.

• Assist management in executing initiatives or strategies throughout the division.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent with 10 years of experience in software application development and maintenance.

• Experience in Kafka-based event-driven integrations.

• Proficient in designing, configuring, and maintaining Confluent Kafka clusters in a multi-data center and cloud setting.

• Practical experience in establishing and enforcing best practices for Kafka topic design, schema evolution, and DevOps automation.

• Familiarity with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry.

• Proficient in Java, Python, or Go.

• Experience in integrating with legacy systems and modernizing monolithic applications.

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native architecture.

• Experience managing technical risks, dependencies, and escalations.

• Knowledge of DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift).
