This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
β’ Design and architect digital products utilizing contemporary tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems.
β’ Leverage scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and expertise for software design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
β’ Take ownership of applications in production and ensure the success of digital products by meeting KPIs.
β’ Engage in inception and iteration planning meetings, contributing technical insights to backlogs in collaboration with the product manager.
β’ Attend daily site, cross-site, and product team standups.
β’ Participate in retrospectives, fostering a culture of empathetic feedback.
β’ Mentor the team and facilitate daily paired programming and test-driven development practices.
β’ Set up and maintain continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices.
β’ Provide leadership in system design and architecture, working closely with team members to achieve shared decision-making.
β’ Monitor key systems, analyzing logs and traces for performance insights.
β’ Oversee and lead responses to production outages or errors.
β’ Experience in designing and developing REST APIs using Java Spring Boot, including tools for documentation, versioning, service discovery/registration, testing, and management.
β’ Practical experience in making architectural decisions, designing, and delivering large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments, particularly with microservices architectures.
β’ Proficiency in backend development design and implementation, databases (SQL, NoSQL, caching), and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka).
β’ Extensive knowledge of TDD and the ability to write significant unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for comprehensive coverage.
β’ Familiarity with web and API security concepts, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML.
β’ Experience with distributed version control systems (Git/GitHub), artifact management systems, build and packaging systems (Maven, Gradle, npm, Artifactory, etc.), and Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.
β’ Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, etc.).
β’ Experience working in an XP/Agile environment, including pairing methodologies.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills, including analyzing performance bottlenecks, enhancing resiliency, and addressing messaging challenges.
β’ Background in production support within a large-scale distributed environment, utilizing tools like Splunk, Datadog, and CloudWatch; sharing an on-call rotation is likely.
β’ Proficiency in Python, including AWS Lambda (preferred).
β’ Knowledge of enterprise routing and load balancing, including AWS API Gateway (preferred).
β’ Experience in the insurance sector or other finance-critical domains (preferred).
β’ Familiarity with payment systems or payment gateways (preferred).
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience (preferred).
β’ Proven Technical Leadership abilities.
