Lead Software Engineer – CIAM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Develop and mentor team members while independently adhering to established SDLC processes.

• Identify and suggest solutions that align with business requirements while mitigating risks through clean, secure, and resilient coding practices.

• Review and endorse application designs, technical proposals, pull requests, technical requirements, and solution designs.

• Supervise execution via change management, source control, release management, and deployment processes.

• Design and facilitate peer reviews; mentor engineers on code quality, coding standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Write secure, efficient source code and advocate for effective data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and governance of enterprise-level customer CIAM solutions.

• Provide architectural guidance across various programming languages, frameworks, application domains, and distributed systems.

• Direct authentication and authorization frameworks utilizing OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, token-based security, and IAM solutions.

• Review testing methodologies and code coverage to ensure application quality and readiness for production.

• Propel performance, resiliency, scalability, monitoring, and optimization practices.

• Advocate for DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure automation, and observability.

• Collaborate with technology and business teams to pinpoint process improvements and technical advancements.

• Convey architecture, progress, risks, and challenges to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Contribute to architectural and engineering standards, technology strategy, documentation, knowledge sharing, and internal forums.

• Comply with risk, regulatory, audit, and internal control standards; escalate risk issues as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree with at least 7 years’ experience in systems analysis and/or application development, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the same fields.

• Alternatively, a combined minimum of 9 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including at least 5 years in systems analysis and/or application development, in lieu of a degree.

• Expert-level proficiency in at least one relevant programming language and professional proficiency in at least one additional relevant programming language.

• Advanced proficiency in C# with expertise in developing enterprise-scale applications.

• Strong experience in JavaScript and Angular development.

• Proven experience across various programming languages, frameworks, and technology stacks.

• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, application design patterns, and distributed systems concepts.

• Experience in implementing and supporting customer-facing authentication and authorization frameworks, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and token-based security models.

• Familiarity with identity and access management tools and platforms.

• Practical experience with source control platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automated build and deployment processes, and DevOps practices.

• Experience using application monitoring, observability, and performance management tools.

• Proficient with collaboration platforms and project management tools that support Agile delivery methodologies.

• While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, the role requires providing technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and guidance to development teams.

• Preferred qualifications include expert application-development analytical skills, experience in Agile teams, ability to work autonomously while influencing technical direction, management of complex initiatives, strong organizational and time-management skills, advanced verbal and written communication abilities, project milestone and delivery experience, leadership in technical projects or modernization efforts, cross-functional stakeholder presentations, application architecture and technical standards knowledge, mentoring engineers, and familiarity with cloud-native development and Azure.
